Last week saw me shooting Regurgitator and Devo at Metro City, Perth, and what an *awesome* show that was. Both bands were spectacular, and such a massive crowd! It was awesome, and a real honor for me to be able to shoot both Regurgitator and Devo in concert, and a heck of a lot of fun.
Last night saw me shooting VNV NATION at Gilkinsons (SIN nightclub), in Perth, for their 2008 Australian Judgement Tour. Again, an absolutely *massive* crowd, and WHAT an atmosphere, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like it. Absolutely *amazing*. Aside from the fact VNV Nation are insanely talented (duh), the crowd atmosphere was incredible, the venue completely packed (did it sell out? I'm not sure), and everyone moving to the beat that is VNV.
Afterward the concert finished, the night was full of laughter for me. Geeky chats with Ronan amused me, going from discussing music, to programming, to network systems, to MUDs, to World of Warcraft references, my goodness!
More laughter and chats at a relatively quiet afterparty at the hotel, and I really wish, personally, so many more people had the opportunity to talk with VNV Nation, and Ronan in particular, like I did. The man is an utter genius, and to hear some of the meanings behind his songs, his music, his lyrics... blows you away. Discussions involving astronomy, or quantum physics, or philosophy... how well spoken he is, and how he NEVER fails to clearly, and directly, get his point of view across so convincingly. So much talent, so much passion, I sat there with Ronan and the others, almost jealous of how much experience and knowledge the man in fact holds. Hour and hours of talking and listening, and I am simply blown away.
A fantastic night all round. Please, if you don't know who VNV Nation are, do check them out, give them a listen. Great people, and great music. It was an honor to work with them, and I hope to again in the future, as long as I start getting some camera upgrades that is, and improve my knowledge in photography...
Rock on guys

Nice to see another great artist in Australia.
I'll actually be heading over to Perth (hopefully) for a bit in April. Looking forward to taking a look around out there.
Take care,
Sol
